About Proof

Proof Schubert Reed is a filmmaker and writer from Brooklyn, NY. She earned her BA in Art, Film, and Visual Studies from Harvard University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Screenwriting/Directing at Columbia University.

Her first fiction short, The Baby Project, was selected for the Independent Boston Film Festival and won Best Student Director at the HollyShorts Film Festival. Her second film, Oh, Romeo, was nominated for a Harvard Hoopes Prize. She was a recipient of Harvard's Artist Development Fellowship for her film, Walhonding, a narrative ethnography of her family history. Her writing has been published in New York Magazine, The Harvard Independent, and The Harvard Advocate, and has been supported by the New York State Writer’s Institute and the Kenyon Review Writing Workshops.

Proof's work lies at the intersection of fiction and non-fiction, reframing the genres she loves within nonfiction filmmaking processes. Recently, she has been thinking about dating apps and electronic baby simulations. She is always thinking about Shakespeare and rom coms. Outside of film, Proof is an occasional photographer and actor, lifelong piano player, aspiring amateur pickleball player, avid reader, and loving sister and friend.
